Description
Time to take the metal out of your Recovery Gear. Soft Shackles are as strong as steel with real beneficial advantages.
Typically, in recovery, there's a metal D-Shackle (aka Clevis, Bow Shackle, thingumajig, tow point or whatever you call it in your local dialect) that you can attach your recovery rope to. Those suckers are heavy and are usually multiple pieces that get dropped in the mud. Who likes muddy metal parts when you're in need of Recovery?
Yea, not us, so stop fooling' around and switch to a soft, light, single piece tow point made of synthetic fiber with an attractive sleeve in the color of your choice. Finally, you can match your rig!

What size rope do I need?
Ropes are rated based on the weight of the vehicle doing the recovery, not the vehicle that's stuck. Taking your Quad to the rescue? You need this 1/2" rope.
What length should I get?
The rope length just depends on the user, the terrain, and the vehicles using the ropes. We recommend a 20' if you're going to be in dense woods or rocky areas, where space is limited. And a 30' rope for wide open deserts and dunes.
What is the rope rated for?
The ropes have a 'Minimum Breaking Strength' (MBS). You then use a 'Factor of Safety'(FOS) to determine your 'Working Load Limit' (WLL). Your FOS is typically somewhere between 3 and 5, so either a 3:1, 4:1, or 5:1. You will find your working load limit by dividing the MBS by the FOS. Example:
-
-
- 7,000 / 3 = 2,333
- 7,000 / 4 = 1,750
- 7,000 / 5 = 1,400
-
What is the proper way to store the rope?
Yankum Ropes™ are designed to handle a lot of tough situations, and taking good care of your rope when not in use will prolong the life of the rope. It is recommended to store your rope out of the elements and away from harsh chemicals.
How fast should I go when performing a recovery with a kinetic rope?
Start your recovery with a very slow pull, then move to kinetic pulls. Increase speed gradually until the stuck vehicle is free, but do not exceed 5 mph. If you've reached 5 mph and the stuck vehicle hasn't moved, rethink a different way to recover. Stay safe!

Why Soft Shackles
Traditional metal shackles can be cumbersome and potentially dangerous in recovery situations. Yankum's soft shackles, however, offer a safer and more flexible alternative. They are lightweight, easy to handle, and can adapt to various connection points, reducing the risk of damage to your vehicle. Unlike metal shackles, our soft shackles won't become lethal projectiles if a break occurs during recovery. With Yankum's soft shackles, you're investing in safety, versatility, and efficiency for your recovery arsenal.

An Overlander's best friend (other than the dog)
An Overlander makes every bit of space count. Only the essentials make it in the rig. A soft shakle makes the short listas an item that should be brought along for any adventure, especially the unexpected.
