What size rope do I need?
Ropes are rated based on the weight of the vehicle doing the recovery, not the vehicle that's stuck. Taking your Quad to the rescue? You need this 1/2" rope.
What length should I get?
The rope length just depends on the user, the terrain, and the vehicles using the ropes. We recommend a 20' if you're going to be in dense woods or rocky areas, where space is limited. And a 30' rope for wide open deserts and dunes.
What is the rope rated for?
The ropes have a 'Minimum Breaking Strength' (MBS). You then use a 'Factor of Safety'(FOS) to determine your 'Working Load Limit' (WLL). Your FOS is typically somewhere between 3 and 5, so either a 3:1, 4:1, or 5:1. You will find your working load limit by dividing the MBS by the FOS. Example:
-
-
- 7,000 / 3 = 2,333
- 7,000 / 4 = 1,750
- 7,000 / 5 = 1,400

What is the proper way to store the rope?
Yankum Ropes™ are designed to handle a lot of tough situations, and taking good care of your rope when not in use will prolong the life of the rope. It is recommended to store your rope out of the elements and away from harsh chemicals.
How fast should I go when performing a recovery with a kinetic rope?
Start your recovery with a very slow pull, then move to kinetic pulls. Increase speed gradually until the stuck vehicle is free, but do not exceed 5 mph. If you've reached 5 mph and the stuck vehicle hasn't moved, rethink a different way to recover. Stay safe!

MATCH YOUR ROPE TO YOUR RIG
Every Yankum Rope is engineered to stretch just the right amount—but only when used with the right vehicle. Each rope diameter is built for a specific pulling weight range. For example, our 1" rope is tuned perfectly for a 1-ton pickup. That’s how you get a smooth, powerful kinetic pull.
Using too small of a vehicle with too big a rope? It won’t stretch, and you’ll lose the kinetic energy that makes these ropes work. Use too big of a rig with too small of a rope? You’ll overstretch it—or worse, snap it.
Size matters. It’s not about the stuck vehicle. It’s about the one doing the pulling.

Why Kinetic Ropes
Straps and chains were not engineered for recoveries. Yankum Ropes™, however can stretch up to 30% longer when being used. This allows you to get a running start during a recovery, which couples momentum and mass to free the stuck vehicle. Without a Yankum Rope™ you rely solely on mass and traction, which often times, both are limited.

The sharpest tool in the shed needs to stay sharp
A heavy duty truck, is the heart of the farm or construction site. It gets the boss around and keeps production moving. Yankum Ropes™ makes sure the most important vehicle stays unstuck, and yanks out anything and everything else.
