What the experts have to say

Description

The HD Soft Shackle Sleeve is sacrificial chafe protection for your soft shackles. It takes the abrasion at the recovery point so your shackle doesn't, which means the sleeve wears out instead of the gear it's protecting. When it's chewed up, slip on a new one and keep working.

  • Slips on and off in seconds, no tools, no disassembly
  • Replaceable after extensive wear so your shackles last longer
  • Bow-shaped design hugs recovery points for full contact coverage
  • Same two-part polymer we dip our kinetic rope eyes with
  • Hand-dipped in-house at our shop in Burley, Idaho
  • Fits 5/16" up to 1" HD soft shackles, including J-Hook models
  • Not needed on Yankum tow points (smooth radiuses, no abrasion protection required)
Sizing / Specifications
Fits Shackle Avg. Outer Diameter
5/16" HD ~1.25"
7/16" HD ~1.45"
1/2" HD J-Hook ~1.82"
1/2" HD ~1.9"
5/8" HD J-Hook ~2.1"
5/8" HD ~2.5"
1" HD ~2.8"
1" HD XL ~3.0"

Outer diameter is approximate. Each sleeve is hand-dipped in-house, so slight variation is normal. It's part of the process, not a defect.

Your soft shackle is the strong part. The sleeve is the cheap part that keeps it that way.

The Build

The Prize

A 2026 RAM 2500 Limited Mega Cab in Ceramic Gray with the trim and emblems blacked out. It sits on a Carli Suspension lift with 37" Toyo Open Country A/T tires mounted on 18" satin black Raceline aluminum wheels. The Limited is the top of RAM’s heavy-duty lineup, and the Mega Cab is the biggest cab they put on it, so there’s real room for the crew and the gear. It’s built to pull a trailer across the ranch on Monday and climb a forest service road on Saturday. Then we’re loading it with gear from Midland, Howl, and Tackform, and one of you is driving it home.

Why Soft Shackles

Traditional metal shackles can be cumbersome and potentially dangerous in recovery situations. Yankum's soft shackles, however, offer a safer and more flexible alternative. They are lightweight, easy to handle, and can adapt to various connection points, reducing the risk of damage to your vehicle. Unlike metal shackles, our soft shackles won't become lethal projectiles if a break occurs during recovery. With Yankum's soft shackles, you're investing in safety, versatility, and efficiency for your recovery arsenal.
