The VIPER: 5/8-inch Recovery Rope for SXS/UTV

Recommended for recovery vehicles weighing 1,400-2,999 pounds.

Breaking Strength: 14,800 lbs.

Bogged down in the mud? This diameter size is best utilized in anything from your UTV/SUV. Why is this better than traditional flat webbing straps?

Yankum Ropes delivers extra linear force and added kinetic energy that give you the power of momentum. This rope was designed for professionals but made to serve anyone who needs an extra tug. This rope was built for lighter recreational vehicles to make sure you spend more time having fun than yanking it in the mud. It’s built to stretch and perform.

This Mil-Spec quality product is made out of the best Double Braided rope. We use our “Code Red” Polymeric coating to protect against UV, water and abrasion as well as dip the eyes in a thick, protective high-compression polymer coating to ensure extended life where it matters most. Yankum Ropes are designed for recovery.

Remember to pair the recovery rope with the recovery vehicle, NOT the stuck vehicle.

What size rope do I need?

Ropes are rated based on the weight of the vehicle doing the recovery, not the vehicle that's stuck. Taking your SXS to the rescue? You need this 5/8" rope.

What length should I get?

The rope length just depends on the user, the terrain, and the vehicles using the ropes. We recommend a 20' if you're going to be in dense woods or rocky areas, where space is limited. And a 30' rope for wide open deserts and dunes.

What is the rope rated for?

The ropes have a 'Minimum Breaking Strength' (MBS). You then use a 'Factor of Safety'(FOS) to determine your 'Working Load Limit' (WLL). Your FOS is typically somewhere between 3 and 5, so either a 3:1, 4:1, or 5:1. You will find your working load limit by dividing the MBS by the FOS. Example:

      • 14,800 / 3 = 4,933
      • 14,800 / 4 = 3,700
      • 14,800 / 5 = 2,960

What is the proper way to store the rope?

Yankum Ropes are designed to handle a lot of tough situations, and taking good care of your rope when not in use will prolong the life of the rope. It is recommended to store your rope out of the elements and away from harsh chemicals.

How fast should I go when performing a recovery with a kinetic rope?

Start your recovery with a very slow pull, then move to kinetic pulls. Increase speed gradually until the stuck vehicle is free, but do not exceed 5 mph. If you've reached 5 mph and the stuck vehicle hasn't moved, rethink a different way to recover. Stay safe!

Why Kinetic Ropes

Straps and chains were not engineered for recoveries. Yankum Ropes, however can stretch up to 30% longer when being used. This allows you to get a running start during a recovery, which couples momentum and mass to free the stuck vehicle. Without a Yankum Rope you rely solely on mass and traction, which often times, both are limited.

Best Suited for

  • Small SUV's
  • Rally
  • Buggies and Sand Rails

All WORK and all PLAY

Is it an adventure if you are constantly worried you are going to get stuck? Of course not! A Yankum Rope on-board ensures peace of mind and max fun for any trip!
